Serving Glasgow’s East End since 1989

The Shop

An “emporium”, an “Aladdin’s Cave” or just “that dead handy wee shop in Parkhead” - at John’s Household Store we strive to live up to a reputation of being a well-stocked, friendly and knowledgable local DIY and homewares shop.

Specialists in key-cutting and with an expanding range of engraving services, we truly have something for everyone, and if we don’t have what you need we’ll do our best to source it - just send us a message!

History

John Zambonini opened his first shop on Westmuir St in the 1980s, a couple of blocks down from our current location (since demolished), which I’m told was just as well-stocked despite being less than half the size! It quickly became an invaluable resource for the community, whether in need of a teapot, a spare key cut or a particular woodscrew. John retired and sadly passed away soon afterwards in 2020.

The current owner, Bryce, started working in the shop and learning the trade in 2013, and has no intention of changing it’s name - “BHS” sounds somehow ill-fated for a homewares store.
